Theme Scripture

Ephesians 4:11-16

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

These are the kinds of relationships we need to have, derived from the theme scripture...

Connecting

We are joined and connected in the church through close relationships. A CNN report recently revealed that "nearly 1 in 4 adults across the world have reported feeling very or fairly lonely, a new Meta-Gallup survey has found." Let us press to be connected and help others not fall prey to loneliness.

Challenge: Meet 1 new person at church every week & practice hospitality

Unifying

The text reveals that we should be striving to reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God. It is not sufficient for the church to have teachers who delve deeply in the Bible; all members need to do so.

Challenge: Deepen your Bible study by using Bible commentaries, reading through the Bible in a 1 to 3 years, etc

Building

By our works of service, we build up the body of Christ, the church. We also build others with the words that we say. We are to speak the truth in love. The staff members developed a motto to help them grow during the pandemic: Be better than you were the week before.

Challenge: Write encouraging notes for people, and use words to motivate them toward love and good deeds (Heb. 10:24)

Equipping

God equips the church to perform works of service through people. We need to use our skills, training, experiences, and passion (S.T.E.P.) to equip others. Use your S.T.E.P. to equip or to serve others.

Challenge: Regularize your discipling times, seek help and give help to others to grow in competences and abilities.
